This is an advance endorsement which can be earned during your Skipper Practical training. Your training must take place in a ocean near-coastal situation and experience such things as (examples) large commercial traffic encounters, restricted passage lanes, use of VHF, greater than 12 knots of wind, waves or swells 1m in height.

Near Coastal Endorsement
An Advanced Reward for Ocean Training
Sufficiently experienced operating in a near coastal sailing environment with its associated challenges.
- Theory requirements: NauticEd Skipper Large Keelboat course.
- Experience requirements: Attended a recommended (minimal) 2-day Skipper sailing training course on-the-water. Sailing near coastal and experiencing such things as (examples) large commercial traffic encounters, restricted passage lanes, use of VHF, greater than 12 knots of wind, waves or swells 1m in height.
