Offshore Captain rank for Sail or Bareboat Charter Master rank for Sail requires at least 50 qualifying days of which:

- At least 25 days of experience must be on a vessel 28 feet (8.5 meters) or longer (as crew or master)

- At least 25 of the days must be as Master of the vessel on a vessel 20 ft (6.1m) or longer

- All of the qualifying days must be on a vessel 20 ft (6.1m) or longer

- Vessels must be sailboats

A day listed of experience that is outside this range, for example, a 19 ft sailboat,  or a powerboat, still counts as overall experience, but it just would not count as "qualifying days" for this rank. Feel free to add any smaller boat experience and powerboat experience. It represents your boating awareness.

Do not count or log cruise ship or such experience unless you were crucial to the physical operations of the vessel such as Engineer, First Mate, or Captain

Make no exaggerated or falsified entries. Your logbook may be used in an inquiry, and dishonest records could expose you to serious legal consequences. Its value comes from being an honest record of your true skills and experience.

A day of experience is minimum of 4 hours on the boat operating. At anchor counts but back at the slip and finishing off the cooler does not.
