ASA is the American Sailing Association. They are a privately help company. The are not an official sailing education body. They are not a US Coast Guard recognized institution. Sailing schools for ASA are independently owned schools. Quality between each school varies according to the owner of the school. Their theory training is in book format only. Their certifications are not necessarily accepted by yacht charter companies.
